good bye to May

and here we are, the last day of May.....

Here's what I've been up to,  a simple coverup made from hand spun roving.

The patio is taking shape, even in this corner things are growing just fine.  Photos of the rest of the patio saved for another day.

At the slider door,  a diy covering to keep bugs out (mostly) and allow Sully to go in and out at his pleasure.  I used what I had on hand, the brown sheer hung of a length of bamboo pole and the whole thing slipped in the existing drapery hardware.   It works!

till next time...

with a little sunshine

....everything looks so much nicer!   And a picture is worth a 1000 words....

Patio 2021 is coming together.  It is amazing just how much can be tucked in the space I have.   I call it shuggle (shuffle and snuggle)  And so far it's turning out ok.  Now, if mother nature provides us more sunshine and warmth then we'll be set.

ready to travel?

For something fun to do please visit http://jocondine.blogspot.com/

It's once again time to travel around France, starting on May 18th.  The theme is painters and colors.

it is all about the simple pleasures

 Simple pleasures.....

The theme was spring food and I selected rhubarb.  Working with the roving I had managed to more or less come up with something that looks like rhubarb.....maybe...

Hand spinning underway.

Turtles plyed, a mere 42 grams so my options for a final project will be limited.

A closer look at one of the skeins.

and voila, a scarf created!

Over the hedge, recent blooms on the crabapple trees.

It's always a pleasure to hear and see the eagles overhead.  As for getting a really good photo, lol.

What is it about rainbows that are so magical?

while the sun shines

In my blogging absence I've been catching up...on the patio, spa days for skeins of yarn and these.....four shawls that have been waiting for their final wash and blocking.  It was worth the time spent hand spinning the rovings.

My yarn swift makes it so easy to wind on the skeins  (and keep track of the yardage).

On the patio, well it's a work in progress at the moment....photos to come.   We have been enjoying sunshine and warmth for many days in a row (this is not always the case).

stay safe...

till next time

Easter 2021

 Happy Easter to all!

in these times......

Eggs decorated by our grandsons with Mom's help.

Another Easter in covid times....  Like so many other folks we really miss being with family.  Hoping that soon vaccines will be widely available.  In the meantime, waiting for our turn......

Enjoy the weekend!

all about the perspective

 March 11th, 11:11 am

Today we have drywallers on site....it has been a very long process since our water leak was discovered back on February 5th.   And because it was a leak there wasn't any 'water gushing' out of a pipe.  Instead this break in a pipe allowed water to casually seep everywhere and anywhere it desired......and it did.

Fast forward and we have a timeline of when all this will wrap up, March 26th.... I can't muster  hurray, balloons or confetti....I'll believe it when it's done.

And I do know that it could have been so much worse!

As for perspective:

We change to daylight savings time this weekend.

    Spring is around the corner.

    Saturday we're supposed to hit 15 C!

And tomorrow, most important to our family, our grandson comes home from a hospital stay (17 days).      Due to covid, visiting of course hasn't been possible.

always, always remember to be

thankful

blessed

 grateful

till next time

onward

 It's January 21, 2021,

Yesterday brought closure, new beginnings and hope.

.....for a couple of days I've had a song go round and round in my head

Ordinary Day  Sarah McLachlan lyrics

It's not that unusual
When everything is beautiful
It's just another
Ordinary miracle today

The sky knows when it's time to snow
Don't need to teach a seed to grow
It's just another
Ordinary miracle today

Life is like a gift, they say
Wrapped up for you everyday
Open up, and find a way
To give some of your own

Today is a new day.

simple pleasures

And this makes what was a grey day all worthwhile.

Wednesday, January 13, 2021

On a clear day...

January 2021 and like most years most days are soggy, grey and cold.  That is until today where as far that you can see, blue sky and sunshine.  Cancel the indoors stuff and hit the road.

So even in these covid times a mini road trip was in order.   Ok, a drive to the beach with hopes of taking photos.  lol.  Of course within a few blocks of home road works  and traffic delays.  Similar elsewhere along our route.   Colorful street light banners were displayed.  All beach themed, seagulls, crabs and more.  I'd already made a note to get some photos further along the route when we stopped.  lol  We enjoyed the first views of the ocean waves and the shoreline while driving down the steep hill towards Marine Drive.  It's the route travelled many times since my childhood.  Also noted a beautiful sculpture of a cyclist (for the Tour de White Rock perhaps) Turning left on west beach it was evident that these are different times, shops changed and/or closed.  The old converted train station on the right and then the pier  and then the ROAD CLOSED sign.....no, say it isn't so!  And like most everything else these days, plans change we followed the detour sign and had to retrace our route.  This time we continued east instead of going back up that steep hill.

We did see eagles. We saw the ocean. I saw sheep in a field.  We had some lunch out (in the car).

As for the cameras in the back seat of the car, they had a good car ride.

We appreciated the change of scenery.   Sometime after January 31st when the road route is scheduled to reopen we'll try again with cameras in hand.

Gnomes, toadstools and a fresh cup of coffee.

A new start for a new year, weaving with my Sampleit loom.   Lots to learn.

A new to me yarn swift.

stay safe everyone.
